Monica Mattson, DDS
Dr. Monica Mattson grew up in Westchester County, New York, just outside New York City. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for her undergraduate degree and completed Officer training in the Naval ROTC. Dr. Mattson attended dental school at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating with honors. She went on to complete a General Practice Residency (GPR) in Dentistry and Medicine at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, California, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
About Dr. Mattson
In 2003, Dr. Mattson began her civilian career as an Associate Dentist for the McCarl Dental Group in Greenbelt, Maryland. After 12 years there, Monica purchased her own practice, Diamond Dental of Owings Mills.
Monica is married to an animal lover and jointly owns and operates an equine rescue and training center named Wiley Acres in Carroll County, MD. In their spare time, they enjoy outdoor recreation, traveling, and activities with family and friends.
Dr. Mattson enjoys giving back to the community and has served in multiple humanitarian dental projects, both locally and abroad. She is currently licensed to practice in both Maryland and Florida. Lifelong learning is a very important part of her life; she routinely seeks continuing education opportunities by participating in dental seminars and is an active member of the Triple Crown Study Club. She has served on Baltimore County’s Dental Association’s Executive Board for four years, and last year she was Vice President. Dr. Monica Mattson is proud to serve as the 2022-2024 BCDA President and Maryland State Dental Association delegate.

- She has been to all 50 states.
- She once repaired a boat motor with a nickel and a piece of bubble gum on a stranded Naval vessel… all while floating dangerously close to Cuba’s shoreline in the 1990’s.
- She met Larry Hagman -- better known as J.R. (yes, as in who shot J.R.?) when he stopped by her house to pick up his wallet that her father had found on an airplane.
- Her childhood friend’s father was the longest running soap star in the 1980’s.
- When she was 13 she spent summer living in Bangkok, Thailand.
- A foal (baby horse) bred and born on her farm won the 2016 Premium Foal in the International Sport horse Registry/Oldenburg Registry and 2017 Yearling of the Year.
- She worked as a DJ and radio host while in high school and college.
- She appeared in a television commercial was for “Golddigger Jeans” in the 80’s.
- She competed in the Junior Olympics several times for running and swimming while growing up and at one time was a sponsored competitive BMX biker.
- Your Owings Mills dentist once gave a tour to the King of Senegal in New York City… in French!
